Ian Walsh

Big Wave Surfing

Procedure Description

Ian Walsh - PortraitIan Walsh, professional surfer and Red Bull athlete, came to DISC in April 2013 for a knee arthroscopy, after dealing with ongoing knee pain for several months. After surgery, he spent time at the Soft Tissue Center rehabbing his knee before heading back to Hawaii. Walsh also came to DISC in the fall of 2012 to see Dr. Bray for an elbow laceration and hematoma in his chest/shoulder area. His board hit him while he was surfing in Puerto Escondido, Mexico and caused the injuries to his elbow and chest/shoulder area.

The Maui, Hawaii native turned pro at the age of 18, and since then has traveled the world, chasing the biggest waves on the planet.  As a big wave surfer, Walsh regularly rides waves ranging from 40 to 70 feet.
