In the fall of 2012, professional BMX rider Anthony Napolitan came to DISC Sports and Spine in Marina del Rey after dealing with ankle pain, weakness and lack of full range motion on and off for the last four years. His ankle discomfort stemmed from a bone spur that was caused by old bone fractures he sustained during his riding career. The bone spur created a lot of scar tissue, which needed to be cleaned out in order for Napolitan to get stability, strength and the full range of movement back in his right ankle. Dr. James Wang performed the ankle arthroscopy and removed the bone spur.
As a BMX Dirt and BMX Vert/Mega Ramp rider, Napolitan performs stunts like front flips, back flips and 360 variations. Some of his accolades include 1st place at the BMX Freestyle World Championship (Dirt) in Cologne, Germany, 1st Place in the Dew Tour (Best Trick) in Orlando, as well as becoming the first ever to double front flip on a bicycle at the X Games 15 in 2009.
