With more than 25 years in practice, Dr. Jeffrey M. Colbert is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in knee and shoulder injuries, joint replacements, sports medicine and trauma. He has spent his extensive career on sports medicine’s front lines, holding team physician posts for the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Cobras, and currently serving as one of Loyola Marymount University’s primary orthopaedic surgeons.
Prior to joining DISC, Dr. Colbert was a partner at Los Angeles Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Medical Surgery Group, which became Marina del Rey’s busiest orthopaedic practice under his lead. His success is fueled by a commitment to highly selective, conservative care. Dr. Colbert, who embraces DISC’s minimally invasive approach to medicine, prefers to solve problems without surgery whenever possible. He also prides himself on treating patients the way he would handle his own care as a physician.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Colbert is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a qualified medical examiner. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, Los Angeles County Medical Association, California Medical Association and the American College of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Colbert received his Bachelor degree from the University of Michigan before graduating from Wayne State University with his Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed his General Surgery internship at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Boston University Affiliated Hospitals. Dr. Colbert has held chief residency positions at the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, University Hospital, Lahey Clinic Medical Center and Boston City Hospital.
When he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Colbert enjoys a lifelong passion for skiing, logging some 25 days per year on the slopes. He also enjoys mountain biking, swimming and cross-training.
