Dr. George Cyril is a board certified Physiatrist, also known as a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation specialist. He believes that an aggressive diagnostic process, coupled with a conservative treatment plan is the preferred path for managing orthopedic problems. He is fellowship trained in interventional spine, sports medicine, and regenerative medicine. Dr. Cyril provides non-surgical orthopedic pain services for joints and spine.
After graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine with his medical degree, Dr. Cyril completed several clinical training programs including an internship in surgery at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), and a fellowship in interventional spine and sports medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS)- Ranked #1 for Orthopedics in the United States.
Among his many professional accomplishments, Dr. Cyril was recently awarded a Leading Physician of the World award as the Top Physiatrist in Beverly Hills by The International Association of Health Care Professionals.
Dr. Cyril has worked on several research projects spanning over 12 years. In 2014, he was awarded best medical research during an annual meeting for the North American Spine Society for an innovative non-surgical procedure for lower back pain. This was also published in the premier journal for his specialty.
Dr. Cyril also has experience as a NCAA Division I athletic team physician for multiple sports and universities, including University of Pennsylvania, St. John’s University, and St. Peter’s University. Dr. Cyril uses his sports background to treat both professional and industrial athletes.
As a graduate from the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery, Dr. Cyril holds training and expertise in the exciting new field of Regenerative Medicine. A branch of medicine also known as orthopedic biologic medicine, this field uses the patient’s own tissue; i.e. blood platelets or bone marrow stem cells. These cells help naturally guide the body’s own healing abilities from injury or degeneration. Dr. Cyril utilizes this technique to augment spinal disc degeneration, arthritis, and tendon injuries, as seen in shoulder rotator cuff and hip pain.
Dr. Cyril’s skills have been valued by the medical community as an alternative to surgery, but in cases where surgery is clearly indicated, Dr. Cyril will coordinate care with other specialists to optimize your outcomes.
