Dr. Hooman Melamed on The Doctors: Discusses Scoliosis and Spinal Fusion

The Doctors | Part One , Part Two |

Orthopedic spine surgeon Dr. Hooman Melamed was recently featured on The Doctors, discussing his patient, Kyle, 19, who developed debilitating scoliosis at age 12.  Kyle’s scoliosis was so severe that it caused a 30 to 40 degree curve in his spine, which continued to progress.  To correct the curving of his spine, Dr. Melamed released Kyle’s tethered spinal cord and performed a spinal fusion.  Post surgery, Kyle now has a straight back and is no longer in pain.

Watch both parts to see Kyle’s surgery and how he feels after the procedures.
