An often misdiagnosed and misunderstood condition, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) presents an extremely challenging situation to both patients and physicians. Formerly identified as RSD, this debilitating disease is marked by the presence of continuous, intense pain out of proportion to the severity of injury (if any has occurred). The pain is usually centered in one or more of the extremities (arms, legs, hands or feet) and generally increases over time.

For suffers of CRPS, there is hope, however. Under the direction of Dr. Edward Carden, a highly specialized subset of the D.I.S.C. pain management team offers a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and treatment of this difficult disease. In addition, the team takes a highly proactive approach to educating the public and medical community about the condition, and the means of recognizing and relieving the syndrome.
